The Danger of a Dreary Monday

Poppies will make you… drool.
March 22, 2009
In high school and college, I was one of those girls who wears lots and lots of rings. You remember those girls… silver rings of various sizes and shapes on 8 of my 10 fingers. Unfortunatly, I also had a bad habit of playing with the rings, and using them as a distratcion in class. So, over they years I want from owning 8 or 9 rings down to only 4 or 5. Sad. Then, as I started a job and felt the need to appear more grown-up and professional, I went down to only wearing 1 or 2 rings. Some days my fingers feel naked, but over the years I’ve gotten used to being a non-ring-wearing girl again. Every once in a while I throw one or two on for Saturday night just for jun, but these days I find myself wanting to wear rings that are a bit more grown-up looking. This means no more $10 rings from Claires.
Found this ring today while flipping through the April issue of Lucky (guilty pleasure #16).

The Farrah Dragon Golden Moth Ring ($660). Available in silver too ($440). Sold by auto. Which brought me to this one, which I love!
Farrah Dragon Silver Poppy Ring ($638). I love this ring because it’s feminine and pretty. The sterling silver makes it a bit more grown up than the rings I wore as a teen, but it’s still fun! And a bonus feature: all of the metals are either 100% recycled or obtained from socially and environmentally conscious sources.
Discovering auto. could be dangerous, since I happen to live not far from the store. I’m thinking a sunny Sunday afternoon walk thorugh the city could be dangerous if I’m in that neighborhood. That is, assuming that I manage to find a few hudred dollars to spare…
2 Turtle Doves
December 23, 2008
Turtle doves? How are these different from real doves? More importantly, why in the world is my true love getting me these for Christmas?
Afte some searching, I was able to find some cute doves. I briefly considered looking for turtles, but I’m less of a fan of turtles than I am of birds (although I did briefly have a pet turtle…).
So I found these Peace Dove Silver Earrings on Etsy. They are going for $25 – which for silver is a steal! I love Etsy!! The seller is Costal Treasures. I am a huge fan of supporting artists and individuals, rather than suporting the ongoing use of tiny unpaid fingers in the third world (end of soapbox for the day).
Shiny doves for your true love! Or for you!!
Fiiiive Golden Rings!
December 20, 2008
This was always my favorite part of the song!
So I went with Tiffany & Co for this one, because, well, I’m a girl and I like shiny pretty things. Check out this bracelet!

It is the Else Peretti Wave 5 Row bracelet. 5 golden rings!!! A mere $1,950. And I love the description: “It seduces the eye and soothes the spirit..” I am officially seduced.
10 Lords(?) a Leaping
December 15, 2008
Wow. What have I gotten myself into. This song does not translate easially into shopping! But I’m always up for a challenge. For today’s gift – I bring you a gift for your prince charming. Hopefully, he’s a bit green and slimy than the original “leaping lord” that these were fashioned after!
You can find these Frog Prince cuff links at Red envelope for $119.95. I think these are so cute! I’m asking Santa for someone to give them to…

5 a day for a better wardrobe

Who knew that we could love our fruits and veggies this much…
Found these Fruit Punch cuff bracelets from Uncommon Goods… I remember when wearing your dinner was not quite so classy! Sorry no pic… tried a screen shot but failed miserably…
I like the starfruit… and the zuccini… and the beet…
Mom would be so proud!!
Not timeless, in any manner of speaking

I know, I know. You are asking yourself by now if every post will have some unfortunate wordplay. The answer is, if I can help it, Yes.
I have a hard time thinking of watches merely as watches. They have always seemed more to me like another piece of jewelry that should complement what I am wearing. Hense my red watch, which I love to wear some days and wouldn’t be caught dead in others.
This one, however, I think I could wear most of the time. It is feminine, fun, and all that good stuff. $175 from one of my favorites, BCBGMAXAZRIA.
These are made by debaires. They are two sisters from Argentina, who live in Brooklyn. They use posts that are gold and silver filled (yay!), and make absolutely gorgeous jewelry! Honestly, usually I see more of the same at every booth and am let down. These are amazing. I admit, I bought the earrings. But seriously, how could I not!!?
